This year marks the 12th year the Lao American community observed Lao American Artists Heritage Month. This year feels like a particular milestone as we see so many projects come to light looking at our diverse journeys and what we’ve done with our first 50 years of living in democracies in Laos, the United States and elsewhere. That’s a lot to reflect on during the Year of the Nak.
The language on the proclamation changes periodically but at the heart of it every year we encourage an acknowledgement of the wonderful contributions of artists and our culture builders across the United States and in various parts of the Lao diaspora who take the time out of their lives to add to our culture creatively.
At Sahtu Press, we once again salute that journey and encourage all of you to take time to create every day, to share the work of your favorite Lao artists, and to keep exploring constantly for new, experienced, and underappreciated artists from the Lao community in all of your favorite disciplines.
